My only minor concerns are with how it collects shed fur and the handle design, but these are trivial compared to its overall performance.
For medium to long-haired pets, itās important to note that this tool alone isnāt enough to maintain a healthy coat. It might work for short-haired pets, but I still rely on a slicker brush for my cat. However, the SleekEZ excels in its specific function, making it essential for owners of medium to long-haired animals.
I begin by using a slicker brush all over my cat to remove debris, distribute natural oils, and tackle any tangles before they become mats. The SleekEZ doesnāt quite perform these tasks, as its comb teeth arenāt long enough. After that, I use the SleekEZ to gently pull out loose hair, particularly from dense areas like the neck, belly, and hindquarters. I find that short, overlapping strokes yield the best results. Finally, I give my catās coat a quick once-over with the slicker brush to pick up any loose fur left behind by the SleekEZ. The result? A very sleek, soft, and shiny coat with no stray hairs. I was shocked at how much fur the SleekEZ removed during the first use. My catās coat definitely looks less bulky, especially in those troublesome areas, which I attribute to removing the dead hair ready for shedding.
The compact size is ideal for cats; I wouldnāt want anything larger. My cat remains calm and comfortable while I use the SleekEZ, indicating itās gentle and not painful. He usually wiggles and flops around with the slicker brush, likely due to its more stimulating bristles, but he stays still for the SleekEZ, suggesting it feels less intense. Iād recommend it for cats that are fussy about grooming.
I do have two minor critiques: 1) While using the SleekEZ, shed fur doesnāt clump together like it does with a traditional slicker brush. Some fur clings to the wooden part, which takes a moment to remove, while the rest ends up scattered on top of the coat. The SleekEZ website claims that shed fur will stick together, but thatās not my experience. This may depend on your petās hair texture, but I find that much of the fur ends up as little bits of fluff on the coat, requiring a final pass with the slicker brush to clean up. 2) The handle design leaves much to be desired in both shape and material. While I appreciate simplicity, it feels awkward and uncomfortable to hold. I noticed a version with a silicone handle on the SleekEZ website, but it retains the same odd shape, making it no real improvement. That said, the handleās design doesnāt impact the toolās effectiveness, and since I donāt use it for long periods, itās not a major issue. It just feels less thoughtfully designed compared to the actual comb.

I’ve been using these on horses for years and never considered trying them on my other pets. They’re fantastic for shedding season with horses or for quick and easy curries (though I wouldn’t recommend them for heavy sweat and mud). For my cats and Doberman, the smallest size was PERFECT. My cats absolutely LOVED it and usually swat at me with most brushes! It also helped reduce dandruff on my dog.
The brush is easy to hold, lightweight, and gets the job done. While it’s not sharp, it has a serrated, razor-like feel that some animals might not appreciate. Iām planning to order more for my pets. I highly recommend it for horses and short-haired pets like cats and dogs. I’m not sure how it would work on long-haired cats or shepherds, but it did a great job for our family lab.
